Rodeo, Durango, Mexico

Classification, IID, meduim octahedrite (0.6mm). Found in 1852 and used as an anvil before being recognized as a meteorite.

Cape of Good Hope

Classification IVB, Ataxite, Ni-rich, 16.9% Ni. Very nice Neumann bands, characteristic of IVB irons in each specimen. Found in 1793, a sword was made from a portion of this meteorite and presented to the Emperor of Russia.

Lake Murray Meteorite

Lake Murray, Carter Co., Oklahoma, USA

Classified IIB, coarsest octahedrite, cosmically reheated. This iron meteorite was found in 1933 in an undisturbed cretaceous sandstone making its terrestrial age the oldest of any meteorite yet found. Three nicely etched specimens, one very large at 19.5 grams.
